10 Best Levels In The Spyro Reignited Trilogy
9. Charmed Ridge
Though most of the Spyro levels have a basic (or even non existent) narrative, the opening two entries on this list both earn their spot through their stories. Charmed Ridge, like Zephyr and Breeze Harbor before it, just nips in ahead of competitors through the strength of its storytelling.
The competition for the top ten was tight, but no other level can claim a motorcycle riding cat and a rebellious fairy princess at its apex. For that reason, Charmed Ridge takes ninth.
Storytelling alone though would not be enough. The level itself is as inventive in its use of magic as Spyro ever was, with the series’ staple of moving platforms and timed jump employed here to give players tons of fun.
Sgt. Byrd’s playable section develops his story too, and adds to the forbidden love theme of the whole level. Flying and zapping the cat witches took a bit of getting used to, but was rewarding to finally crack.
Back in the main level, Spyro’s Jack and the Beanstalk challenge was a good way to mix up the platforming. Jack’s redesign with his shimmering black eyes is maybe a tad too nightmarish though.
