10 Best Looking VR Games

3. Star Wars Squadrons VR (PS4 AND PC, 2020)

2020 has been a really good year for the medium and Squadrons jumped out of hyperspace to surprise and delight Star Wars fans.

With big names such as Half-Life: Alyx and The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners, no one expected EA's foot in the court to be as good as it was. This is a beautiful and immersive experience from beginning to end. It is exactly what my 6-year-old self would have adored. The pure joy of simply being able to look at your cockpit and see the individual buttons, to feel the pressure of manoeuvring around asteroids and to chase your enemies against the mind-blowing vistas of space is worth the buying price and more. This is a cinematic experience both in it framing, and graphics.

Despite the game not being built from the ground up for VR, it looks and feels incredible. There are some gameplay advantages to wearing the headset though, namely freeing yourself from a traditionally restricted field of view offered by a controller.

This is EA's first full VR experience, and it allows a player to tackle both the full campaign and multiplayer fully within the headset. This is perhaps a message of hope for the future of the gadget, and we hope to see it being better integrated into more AAA games soon.
