You cannot understate the importance of Half-Life: Alyx and its effect on the future of VR. Many fans may have been disappointed that Valves latest outing wasn't the long-awaited Half-Life 3 but in every sense, this is just as good.

Taking place five years prior to Half-Life 2, the game sees the player in the shoes of fan favourite Alyx Vance as she fights the infamous Combine with her father. Graphics wise, you can see the developers love in each frame. Every scene, and every setting is masterfully crafted and something to behold. From the dirt under the players nails, to the view of the city from a balcony, you will spend half your roughly 11-hour playtime purely engrossed in the world Valve have created.

Engrossing you in this world is clearly Valves intention and it's done with the skill you'd expect from these industry giants. Pretty much everything in this world is interactive, and the fun you will have from collecting grenades in a bin lid to then throw at the Combine never gets old.

Leave it to Valve to push the generation forward on the best course. This is the most high-profile AAA game available on VR at the moment and you owe to yourself to pick it up straight away. This game was created purely for the platform, so expect the best physics and graphics going. For this, it deserves the second place spot.
