10. EDI
EDI's change in status was one of the best twists in all of Mass Effect 3, a game simply fraught with twists, turns and questionable endings that we're not going to discuss here because it's N7 Day so let's just party and get loud on Omega. Throughout all of Mass Effect 2, EDI was the Normandy SR-2's onboard intelligence, there to answer all of your questions whether you wanted her to or just accidentally clicked the talk button on your way to flirt with the pretty people on your ship. Her developing relationship with ship pilot Joker was one of the most emotionally touching through-lines that runs across the series. She was tough and funny, with the Incinerate ability in-game that just will never get old. Thank you, EDI, for both saving my butt on the battlefield and for telling me what this part of the ship is.
