10 Best Movement Systems In Gaming History

1. Sunset Overdrive

Spider-Man 2 game 2004
Insomniac

This just proves without a shadow of a doubt that Insomniac are best suited to handle the upcoming Spider-Man game.

There's a lot to love about Sunset Overdrive, from its beautiful art-style to its great range of customisation, but it's really the movement system that sets it apart from anything else in gaming.

Every single aspect of Sunset Overdrive is tied to moving around. Getting around the city is impossible without doing it stylishly because the open-world is built around it. Combat is incredibly hard without utilising the movement options available to you and the game actively rewards you for doing so.

Better yet, the movement is beyond fun. For something so important to the game, it's a relief that Insomniac managed to make something that feels so good to do. It really is the epitome of easy to pick-up but hard to master.

If Insomniac can do even half as good as they did with Sunset Overdrive for Spider-Man, we're in for a treat.

Jumping through portals, swinging through cities, destroying beings made of darkness and occasionally shooting a gun or two. I also write about games.
