8. Zero Time Dilemma
The final entry in the Zero Escape trilogy may have gone out with a whimper in terms of sales numbers, but for fans of the series it delivered where it mattered.
Continuing the Zero Escape series penchant for time-twisting mysteries and gruesome fatalities, Zero Time Dilemma offered a fitting finale to all that had gone before. The puzzles were as satisfying as ever, the story saw the return of fan favourite characters from previous entries, and the murders were even more ghoulishly OTT than before. (Any game that includes chainsaws and acid showers in its opening few hours is not mucking about).
Unfortunately, judging by the game's sales it seems like many of the series' fans missed the boat on this one. Whether it was the drastic change in art style or people simply forgetting about the Zero Escape series in the four year gap between sequels, Zero Time Dilemma failed to set registers alight during its 2016 release.
Which is a shame. After all, any game that dares to send you to the end credits within the first five minutes because you screwed up a coin toss deserves more recognition.
