8. Etrian Odyssey: Legends Of The Titan
Since its infamous breakup with Squaresoft in the 90s, Nintendo has seemed to have bad luck on the JRPG front. Though there have been some bright spots since then, nothing has close to the glory days of Final Fantasy VI, Chrono Trigger, and Secret of Mana. But the last few years have seen Nintendo bounce back on the JRPG front. The Wii got two outstanding swan song titles with Xenoblade Chronicles and The Last Song, while the 3DS got great games like Shin Megami Tensei IV, Tales of the Abyss, and of course Etrian Odyssey: Legends of the Titan. Here is a game that will instantly shut up those who complain about games on Nintendo consoles being easy, hand-holding, kiddie games. Atlus has created a beautiful and dangerous world for gamers to explore, and theyre not going to tell you how to go about it. The only thing thats for certain is that, even on Easy Mode, youll still probably die more often than youd like. But with death comes discovery, and this is a game where youll want to discover everything. Its not the most accessible game on this list, but with a little bit of patience, its definitely one of the most rewarding.
