10 Best Nintendo Switch Exclusives Of 2019

1. Fire Emblem: Three Houses

A lot of the games here have had their depth outside of the regular storyline touted as a positive, but for that, Fire Emblem: Three Houses is in another stratosphere. It takes between 40 to 80 hours to complete a playthrough of a single house, and as the title suggests, there's three of them in total.

It's not just a simple question of a colour palette change either. While the three houses do follow a similar story beat pattern, they have distinctly different endings, and contain a completely separate cast of characters. It's definitely a considerable time commitment, but it is worth it for those willing to make the investment.

While there are outliers, Nintendo games do tend to live by the 'short but sweet' mantra, so Fire Emblem: Three Houses is breaking the mould in the best way.

The tactical RPG is a mesh of turn based battling and a school simulator, and plays out like a less frenetic Persona. It's less of a slow burn than Persona though, absorbing you right from the off, while sharing a similarly mammoth playtime.

Its been a great year for Nintendo, but Fire Emblem walks away with the crown, revealing itself a rising star in their ranks.
