10 Best Open World Games Of The Past 10 Years

8. Lego Marvel Superheroes

Lego Batman 2: DC Superheroes introduced the open world setting to the world of Lego games, but it was Lego Marvel Superheroes that perfected it. Not only was the map larger, more detailed and had more side activities to complete, but the roster of playable characters was mind-blowing. Over 150 characters from the Marvel comics universe are unlockable. Some of the characters came as you played the storyline while others took specific tasks to unlock, some of which would take hours to complete. Deadpool was easily the hardest as you had to complete 80 percent of the total game to unlock him. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RDB9lXAUeKg Not only was the New York setting and hovering helicarrier a great setting to roam around in as your favorite Marvel characters, but the actual gameplay was highly polished and featured an array of different powers from the massive list of included characters. Flying around the city as Ironman or The Human Torch was much easier than in the previous DC title and the driving was a little easier to control, which was a plus with the ridiculous amount of races included throughout the city. However, the most satisfying part of this game may have been the dedication to detail and the high level of humor. Lego games are known for being tongue-in-cheek, but seeing Stan Lee pop up in the strangest places made everything so much more hilarious. Add that the funny cutaway scenes involving Nick Fury, Agent Coulson and Maria Hill along with the great lines given to characters like The Hulk and you have one of the best games released in 2013.
