10 Best Open World Games Of The Past 10 Years

9. Fable Series

The Fable series is beloved by gamers for many reasons, one of the biggest being that the game features so many different activities. Fable III in particular was a great achievement in creating a game with a very wide range of things to keep you busy. If you tire of the storyline, all you have to do is visit one of the various hubs to do things like jobs that earn you money, buy and sell real estate and purchase goods to help you on your quest. You can even get married and start multiple families, but you better space the wives out so they don't find out about each other and both leave you along with half your fortune and your kids. Luckily, Fable tends to have many different places to place your family, so you can be the polygamist you've always wanted to be. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHRT7lX10IA The main storyline of Fable is largely the same in each of the games, with each sequel building on the mythology built by the previous titles. You play as a nameless hero who works with a group of allies to save the world from some kind of threat, the nature of which varies with each game. The story implies that all the heroes are related to one another, but it's up to the player to decide who the character really is. The world of Albion includes a variety of landscapes to take like vast deserts, snow covered mountains, dark forests, caves, castles, towns and so much more in this favorite of the genre. By doing various things in different ways, you build up your alignment as good or evil, with each side having different benefits and downfalls. You choose from a variety of spells, outfits and weapons to customize the ultimate hero of Albion. It's also one of the less gruesome titles of the kind, making it popular with gamers of all ages.
