10 Best Open-World Video Games
7. Assassin's Creed (Series)
We’re not talking about just one game here, but an entire series of them. So many games create fantastical locations filled with all manner of creatures and quests, but Assassin’s Creed is simply set in our very real world.
Over the course of the series, you’ll find yourself visiting a number of historical periods and destinations, every single one of them beautifully recreated and bursting at the seams with activities.
The standard quality vs quantity argument is often brought up here, and whilst plenty of the content here is similar, the way that you take on the challenges won’t be.
The games are somewhat historically accurate and with each of them being set in different times and places, you’ll have to deal with your foes differently, and with different tools. You might be zip-lining from building to building in one instance, or sailing the high seas in another. Whilst the core gameplay remains the same, the way in which you interact with each world doesn’t and each of them are handcrafted to make best use of that.
