Most games need a structured story to keep you playing and to keep the game moving along at a steady pace, having you visit this dungeon, that town and so on. Others go to the opposite extreme, and barely provide any story content (Minecraft, for example). The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild finds the perfect balance and lets you explore the map and tackles the story missions in pretty much any order.

There’s a lot to see and do here; hundreds of collectibles and varied, vast biomes to explore. There are even a handful of hidden secrets and quests that only the most dedicated explorers will be able to find. You’re only given vague directions to each major story quest and half of the experience is finding your way around.

You can climb up pretty much any surface too, so no area is really off-limits, including the final boss, whom you can go straight to after leaving the starting area if you’re brave enough.
