1. Pokémon GO
One on hand, gameplay features are several lacking compared to some of the higher entries on the list, and there’s zero storyline whatsoever. However, when Pokémon GO launched it was a cultural phenomenon, so it can’t really be any place other than top.
Most people know the game by now, but what a lot of players who left the game might have missed is the swathe of new features Niantic has added. Legendary raid battles, PvP, mythical quest lines and community days have helped breathe new life into the game and keep it alive and kicking to this day.
There’s certainly some flaws, with Shiny rates being erratic and artificial scarcity. Most players are lucky to have one Lucario while having several MewTwos, Rayquazzas and Suicunes. Although these are only flaws if you’re comparing it to a main series game; as a spin off, it’s free to create its own rules.
There’s still a future for the game yet, with Gen IV currently being rolled out, while the likes of Keckleon and Jirachi from earlier generations are still yet to feature. With Sword and Shield introducing Gen VIII, there’ll be lots of new ‘mons in the app for years to come.
