10 Best Pokemon You've Probably Never Bothered Catching

5. Jirachi

This may not be a popular choice for competitive battlers as there are many who pride themselves on not including legendary Pokemon in their teams. If, however, you are not bound by such a crippling choice, then Jirachi is definitely a Pokemon that deserves a second look when it comes time to choose your team. Jirachi's Steel/Psychic type means it has only two weaknesses (Fire and Ground) and also makes it resistant to no less than eight other types, including Dragon types. Since Dragons are staples for any team and have some of the most powerful moves available, the opportunity to half their effectiveness is not one to pass up. Jirachi is another well-rounded legendary that has proficiency in all stats. Its Speed is good enough to mean that it will attack first against most average Pokemon and, despite its tiny stature, it has the potential to unleash some devastatingly powerful moves. Jirachi is able to learn moves such as 'Psychic' as early as level 20 and can be an absolute brute with the right moveset. Jirachi is likely to be a one-hit KO type of Pokemon, able to wipe out a member or two of your foe's team in as many turns. Its ability Serene Grace boosts the likelihood of added effects occurring and its signature move 'Doom Desire' can be a real treat. With a base power of 140, it will strike the foe's Pokemon two turns later with devastating effect. This move is great if you can quickly switch Jirachi in and out of battle with a couple of high-defence tanks to seal the fate of your rival's Pokemon without having to worry too much about physical attacks. Jirachi is an excellent compliment for teams built around durable battlers and a clever strategy.
