10 Best Resident Evil Games You Didn't Play

Resident Evil 2 has the distinct honour of being one of the best games in the Biohazard series twice, both in its 1998 PlayStation form and in its 2019 smash hit reimagining. But most people don’t realise that this remake was not the first time the game had been rebuilt from the ground up.

Well, some of it, anyway.

In 1997, Tiger electronics released the short-lived Game.com. The system was doomed to fail against Nintendo’s powerhouse GameBoy due to lesser power output and small game library.

Resident Evil 2 on Game.com is about as barebones as you can get, adapting only Leon’s side of the story and missing many key elements.

You might think that this makes it one of the worst Resident Evil games of all time, but it’s all a matter of perspective. What this title achieves on the very limited power of the system means that it’s actually one of the best releases for the Game.com. It retains a sense of exploration and some of the core principles in item hunting and gathering to progress.

Moreover, there’s something very dark and hopeless about the visual design and it’s black and white colour palette that suits Resident Evil very well.

More an oddity than a necessity, Resident Evil 2 on Game.com might just be the most forgotten about port in series history.
