10 Best Resident Evil Spin-Off Video Games

5. Resident Evil 5: Lost In Nightmares

It is debatable whether this can technically count as a spin-off since it was released as DLC for Resident Evil 5. However, this DLC is so good it deserves the credit.

The game cashes in on nostalgia with the estate being very reminiscent of the original games’ mansion and even featuring an easter egg which allows you to play the game with the fixed camera angles popular in the original games. It could be argued that this is a cheap nostalgia cash-in but given the state of the franchise around this time, Lost In Nightmares was like a drop of water in a desert for long-time fans of the series.

For the first half of this package, there are no enemies to speak of, just the gorgeous estate to explore and unsettling notes to uncover. Once the enemies do show up, they are so formidable that there is little use in fighting them. Instead, you’ll have to use your brains to outmanoeuvre them, luring them into traps.

A breath of fresh air indeed.
