6. Resident Evil: Outbreak File #2

Following the same format as its predecessor with the same playable characters and five more additional scenarios; this feels more like an expansion pack than anything else. Because it basically was. This game did a little better with the burgeoning online market and was actually available online in Europe as well.

Outbreak File #2 is an interesting concept that unfortunately has too many against it to be considered a great entry in the series. The characters presented are fine enough, but none of them stands out the way franchise regulars like Jill Valentine and Leon S. Kennedy do. At this point, the idea of returning to the Raccoon incident was also becoming a little ridiculous as well.

The game does feature plenty of survival horror tropes that long term fans have come to love including item management (your inventory is tiny in this game), puzzle-solving and a limited amount of ammunition with which to defend yourself. But this was all a bit played out by this point. Outbreak File# 2 is a solid if slightly underwhelming title.
