You know an RPG is in good hands when it's being helmed by Brian Fargo - the man who ran Interplay back in its glory days when it made games like Fallout, Baldur's Gate and Planescape: Torment. Wasteland 2: Director's Cut is the ultimate version of the Kickstarter-funded post-apocalyptic RPG from Fargo's inXile Entertainment, with better graphics, new gameplay features, tons of new recorded dialogue, and even a 'Precision Strike' system that lets you target specific body parts on enemies... not unlike Fallout? If you're nostalgic for the Fallout series before it got Bethesda's first-person makeover, then you'll feel right at home with Wasteland 2, which uses a tactical turn-based and party-based combat system. The story, which sees you control a group of survivalist 'Rangers' who set out into the US wasteland to work out what killed one of their most respected members. Wasteland 2 isn't an instantly accessible game, and you'll need to familiarise yourself with its highly tactical, tweakable nature to survive it. Once you do though, you can easily sink 100 hours into exploring its barren, lovingly-crafted wastes. Buy Wasteland 2 at GOG
