2. Master Chief - Halo<br>
A character as synonymous with their franchise as Colonel Sanders is to fried chicken, Master Chief has proudly waved the flag for Halo --and indeed XBOX at large-- since Combat Evolved in 2001.
A super-soldier and saviour of the galaxy on numerous occasions, Chief's bad-ass looks and stoic personality despite such a decorated resume makes him a character we can all love and appreciate, regardless of your choice of console.
The Master Chief is a man of few words, and as others are sure to talk of his exploits, he has rare need to speak, himself. Much like Kratos in 2018's God of War, the sparsity of his dialogue doesn't make him a boring, brooding protagonist (like Aiden Pearce in Watch_Dogs or Connor Kenway from Assassins Creed III), rather it feels like it adds to his complexity.
It's his actions --and by association the player's actions-- that make Chief great. However, though the story beats that occur across six games add pressure to our hero, he also shoulders the responsibility of carrying the marketing of a company that has failed to provide a character of the same gravity since.
