Your mentor, Ser Manuel, is a ghost. But have you ever wondered how he ended up in his spectral form? The answer is Blockner, Ser Manuel’s rival in life. But before Blockner was his rival he, of course, started as Ser Manuel’s closest friend. Just like everyone else in the Gungeon, they were there to claim the bullet that can kill the past, but Blockner betrayed Ser Manuel, killing him.

Just like any good secret within EtG you must discover one to find another. When in Ser Manuel’s Halls of Knowledge you must find the hidden room containing the Old Knight's Helm and Old Knight’s Shield. Ser Manuel then tasks you with finding Blockner hiding out in the Black Powder Mine and turning him into a ghost as well. That means you have to use one of your fancy guns and kill him.

Doing this will add Blockner to the Breach and you can then encounter ghost Blockner on future runs where defeating him usually rewards you with helpful pickups and guns.

Also Blockner and Ser Manuel make up and become best friends again after you take Ser Manuel’s revenge for him. Yay!
