7. NBA 2K16 (6.5 million)

As certainly as 2016 follows 2015, one seasonal 2K sports game follows another. But while the dominant publisher of sports video games has fallen off the pace in some of its other franchises, it's also created the best basketball game of all time, so that's some consolation. Defending has been refined, opposing teams adapt much better to your playing style, shifting strategies depending on your own ones, and a slew of new game modes have been thrown in, including a new Play Now online mode, which features a full-on league system in which you can get promoted and relegated. Not to mention a truly terrible (but kinda fun in a weird way) 'My Career' mode; a story (narrated by Spike Lee) in which you create a character who goes from high school basketball talent to NBA star. It's worth noting that NBA 2K16 has the distinct advantage of having been released on current-gen and last-gen consoles. But anyone who cries that previous-gen sales 'don't count' try telling that to EA Sports, who are bathing in the millions from their PS3 and X360 sales as I write this...
