10 Best Songs In The Tony Hawk's Games
7. Guerilla Radio - Rage Against The Machine
While the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater was a landmark title, it was really 2000’s Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 that capitulated the series into the stratosphere.
Packed with more tricks (most notably, the inclusion of the invaluable manual), skaters, goals, and levels, it was a huge evolution that’s often still ranked as one of the best games in the lineage. Naturally, its admirable soundtrack is also a key factor, as nearly every composition – including another one that appears later in this list – became iconic.
Likely the biggest track of all, though, is its opening one: Guerilla Radio by Rage Against the Machine. Taken from the funk/rap/rock quartet’s 1999 LP, The Battle of Los Angeles, Guerilla Radio begins with an exhilarating blend of riffs and rhythms that can’t help but get gamers’ blood pumping.
Then, Zack de la Rocha complements guitarist Tom Morello, bassist Tim Commerford, and drummer Brad Wilk with idiosyncratic attitude and fluidity.
Despite professing typically radical sociopolitical sentiments that don’t necessarily gel with the relaxed mood of THPS 2, its sheer catchiness and disobedient fervour yield a sleek and rousing rocker that instantly became a series classic.
