Let's make one thing clear - WWE 2K17 would've been higher, if not for professional wrestling's debatable character as a sport. Obviously no competition is involved, as the result is known to the participants, but the wrestlers are undoubtedly athletes and their physical feats are far from "fake".

The game itself is free of the "fakeness" of the source material, making wrestling what it our naive selves perceived to be: a competitive and brutal sport.

WWE 2K17 is therefore a cool and innovative fighting game, of which wrestling fans should be especially appreciative.

The presentation is great, there are taunts and epic intros, which are a big plus of the game. So are different game modes, like backstage battles and the GM mode. The player creation process is also better than ever. The same can be said about the fluidity, even though it leaves a lot to wish for.

Still, it's hard to recreate the unpredictability of the sport, so that's fairly obvious. Also, sometimes this game tends to be buggy, hence just the eight spot.
