8. A Child Created The Secret Levels In Super Mario Sunshine

In Super Mario Sunshine, Mario's water pack, FLUDD, allows him to hover, clean up goop, and spray enemies. However, there are secret areas in each level that begin with the antagonist, Shadow Mario, swiping FLUDD, forcing Mario to navigate through complex platform sections without his water device.

These secret areas stand out since the aesthetic has no resemblance to the rest of the game. Sunshine's level designs are colourful, smooth, and bouncy. The FLUDDless zones are composed of platforms that are asymmetrical and clunky.

The reason why these sections appear so sloppy may be because they were designed by a child. And not just any child either. They could've been made by Bowser Jr. (which is Shadow Mario's true identity).

Bowser Jr. could've concocted these mini-levels with his primary weapon; the Magic Paintbrush, which has proven to have incredible powers such as generating Gatekeepers and creating portals.

This would explain why Shadow Mario lies in wait when Mario enters these areas. If he created these zones, he knows Mario will have great difficulty manoeuvring around them without FLUDD, which is why he steals it the instant he enters.
