10 Best Super Nintendo Soundtracks

8. Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest Composed entirely by David Wise, this sequel featured some outstanding music. Many styles of music were used throughout the game, varying from ragtime piano tracks to synth-heavy atmospheric pieces, all the way to accordion-led seafaring jigs. Wise does well to capture the elements of the game, perfectly suiting each situation, whether it be battling pirates aboard an ancient wooden ship, or climbing stealthily through a large bramble bush. The music does an excellent job of focusing on the fun and speed of the game, without sacrificing the softer, slower pieces. The instrumentation uses an interesting mixes of angelic synthesizers and more traditional instruments, such as horns, accordions, and pianos. Drums feature heavily as well, although Wise somewhat abandoned the jungle beats of the original game.
