10 Best Synthwave Video Games You Need To Play

9. Crossing Souls

If Blood Dragon were your dad's VHS collection of movies, then Crossing Souls is the more PG collection of tracks.

Overflowing with pop culture references, both retro and modern, Crossing Souls is every Back to the Future/E.T/Goonies/Stand by Me adventure you all grew up with. Less intense than Stranger Things, but hitting the same lighter notes. Just look at that trailer, it screams 'Saturday morning cartoon' alone.

It also goes to show that not all synth/retrowave has to be dark and sinister. Even in the darkest of moments, 'Souls soundtrack still remains upbeat, as if to spur you on. It's got that "Run With Us" vibe that encourages you and your team to never give up, value friendships, etc.

Developer Fourattic are well aware of the homage to the eighties they've made here, in every aspect. So it comes as no surprise that the soundtrack is too, full of all the nostalgic bits from the early days of console gaming.

Come for the retro, stay for the gameplay, as Crossing Souls is a corker.
