10 Best Synthwave Video Games You Need To Play

8. VA-11 HALL-A

VA-11 HALL-A (or Valhalla) for people that don't speak techy, is a "cyberpunk bartender action" game. Yes, you have read that right, and no, it wasn't just three random search engine words.

Essentially Tapper, if Tapper was a nanomachine augmented bartender, and was set in the Akira universe. But instead of pouring cold ones at a rate of knots, you're instead tasked with making a variety of drinks for the eccentric, enhanced clientele that grace your bar. Oh, these also include corgis fitted with vocal augments.

Playing like an old school adventure game, it's backed by a cracking soundtrack much akin to its homage material. Incorporating neo-noir styles from the likes of Blade Runner, Snatcher and Policenauts, it's been given the modern synthwave stylings we've all come to love. From mellow, sedate tunes to upbeat synth action, it's a perfect pairing to a game as stylish as this.

Whilst adventure games may not be for everyone's tastes, VA-11 HALL-A's quirky, retro aesthetic and soundtrack should win you over.
