10 Best TableTop RPGs That Aren’t Dungeons And Dragons
8. Fate
Fate is whatever you want it to be. With no fixed setting, traits, or genre, there are no limits but your imagination. Whereas most tabletop games have a certain setting Fate saw this and rejected the idea. Fate does exceedingly well at letting a player being any character they want. It also rewards them for playing this character in a true way, however recklessly that may be.
One of the key concepts of the Fate system is the character customisation. They only really ask for short phases or “Aspects” that explains that character. A mad scientist or angry soldier for instance. This then shows the GM what your character's skills are, such as tech knowledge or intimidation. This is all aided with Fate points. Playing your character honestly allows you to earn these points. This will allow you to get out of dangerous or volatile situations, or even impact the story.
This system is a blessing for any creative GM and players. It allows the GM to truly create any setting they want, from the wild west to an alien warzone, nothing is off the table.
