9. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater - "Life's End"
There are many cracking speeches in the main Metal Gear Solid series that picking a particular one was tough.
There's Liquid Snake dropping bombs about cloning and succession, or Solidus Snake's talks of overthrowing the Patriots' oppressive regime and continuing the Big Boss' "free nation" ideals. Which are all great in their own right.
But none really hit harder than the Boss' demise speech from Snake Eater. Throughout the game, players are led to believe the Boss has turned traitor after years of service.
Yet after a tense battle, Snake learns that not only did the Boss not defect, but that she willingly resigned her fate for the good of the country she served so long.
Hearing the acceptance that your mentor, the woman who trained you, has laid down her life not for honour, but for you (and duty, I just wanted to put the lyrics in there) is an emotional gut punch.
And then to really make it memorable, you have to deliver the final gunshot. It certainly leaves an impression.
