10 Best Video Game Characters Of The New Generation
4. Aurora - Child Of Light

Child of Light wasn't ever meant to be a game for everyone. With the rising tide of hatred towards anything even closely-resembling 'yet another indie game' along with the game's wispy art style and rhyming couplet dialogue, Aurora's initially dampened journey is either totally off-putting, or one of your candidates for Game of the Year.
Gameplay-wise it's a turn-based RPG, which in 2014 are few and far between, which is why Child of Light is such a breath of fresh air. Sure the overly art-focussed PR push may have lent a bit too heavily into pretentious territory for some people, but if you gave it the time of day, Aurora's "playable fairytale" can be incredibly engaging, with a few plot points that are surprisingly dark given the otherwise lighthearted aesthetic of everything else.
Think Pan's Labyrinth but without Pan himself, but with just as much inquisitive dialogue from our leading lady, and you're almost there.
