10 Best Video Game Sequels Of All Time
1. Assassin's Creed 2
The runaway success of Assassin's Creed, the first, was a pleasant surprise. Born of a failed Splinter Cell continuation, the adventures of Desmond and his acrobatic ancestor struck gold in 2007. It set the roots for a great story, but it had some slight gameplay issues that needed a tweak.
For one, the playable assassin needed some life injected into him. So, a few centuries later, and we had Ezio to step into the memory of. He had charisma, a bit of wit and added life to make it more fun.
As did the locale, switching to Renaissance Italy over the Holy Lands. It was colourful, bright and bloody fun to explore. Which, thankfully, Ubisoft added more means of traversing with.
It also continued the sci-fi shenanigans that the first game laid out. Desmond's story had a bit more depth, love or hate it, as did the fleshing out of Ezio and his crusade against the Borgias.
It also has possibly one of the best final boss battles: a fistfight with the pope, in the actual Vatican. If only real history was this exciting.
