6. Jeanne - Bayonetta Series

One of the most stylised and free-flowing action titles ever produced, the Bayonetta series built its name on intensely gratifying combat and a laidback tone that was filled to burst with charm and awesome moments.

Equally well received were the game's often wacky side characters. Another Umbran Witch named Jeanne would become one of the most memorable. She is one of Bayonetta's greatest rivals who brought an equally charismatic flair whenever she showed up to challenge the protagonist. After sealing Bayonetta in a lake for five hundred years, the two cross paths several times.

Jeanne almost serves a mirror image to Bayonetta; she's tough, strong-willed and ferociously focused on what she wants. It just so happens that their individual motives don't always see eye-to-eye. Both games are consistently showing off Jeanne's power, whether it's battling angels in a free-falling tower or tackling each other directly, she's consistently making an impact on the story.

Following a PC re-release for the game's tenth anniversary, PlatinumGames obliged the fans and made Jeanne a playable character. Beating every chapter on normal difficulty with a platinum medal unlocks her in the original title. When Bayonetta 3 does finally arrive, this skilled warrior is sure to make another major appearance.
