10 Best Video Game User Interfaces

9. Destiny

Mirror's Edge Catalyst
Bungie

In an age where so many AAA games inundate players with over-designed menus filled with far too many digits and Things To Look At, Destiny's extremely clean and easily understood UI is an absolute marvel.

Despite the original game being a console exclusive, Bungie managed to come up with a PC-style interface which allowed players to quickly navigate a wide gamut of options even while using a controller.

Rather than having to cycle through options in a strict order, the use of a free-flow cursor let players quickly hover over their desired option, cutting down on frustrating busy-work and ensuring players only spent as much time in menus as they really needed to.

It is an exceptional balancing act that neither alienates traditional console players nor those used to navigating menus with a PC mouse.

Bungie have spoken extensively over the years about the enormous amount of development time they devoted to getting the UI right, and that's abundantly clear from the fantastically intuitive end product.
