Before development finished on Telltale's The Wolf Among Us, the ridiculously talented programmers working for the company released The Walking Dead, and it is amazing. Like its other titles, TWD is an episodic adventure game consisting of five episodes. Players make choices, which direct the narrative of the game.

The Walking Dead is set within the world of the comic book series (not the television show). It takes place shortly after the zombocalypse broke out across the world, though it is set in Georgia. Gameplay is centered around Lee Everett, a university professor who rescues and cares for a young girl named Clementine.

His goal is to protect her and find her parents so he can reunite them. Robert Kirkman, the creator of The Walking Dead comic/franchise, provided oversight during development to ensure the game followed the tone of the comic. Fortunately, he let the devs work on the bulk of the game, which was a massive success.

The Walking Dead won several year-end accolades, including the Game of the Year awards from multiple publications. Additional episodes were eventually released, as were new seasons, which extended the game's narrative across four subsequent sequels.
