10 Best Video Games Levels Of 2018 (So Far)

10. City Of Tears (Hollow Knight)

Hollow Knight
Team Cherry

Hollow Knight technically released last year on PC, but because it hit consoles in 2018, it's still more than eligible to be included on this list. It might be cheating a little, but the quality little Metroidvania-style title more than deserves all the recognition it can get.

And while the critically-acclaimed game has mostly become known for being so bloody hard, it shouldn't be overlooked just how well-crafted its levels are, each providing a new challenge that's (slightly) alleviated by the gorgeous visuals and music.

A couple could have made the list, but it's the capital of the Hallownest, City of Tears, which perhaps makes the biggest impact. More than living up to its name, not only by reducing players to weeping messes as they try to navigate its labyrinthian horrors, but by being the most haunting location in a game full of haunting locations, the stage is a testament to just how much of a well-designed powerhouse the indie is.
