10 Best Video Games Of 2013 (So Far)

3. Tomb Raider

tomb-raider-lara-croft-bow-and-arrow The Tomb Raider franchise has been on the decline for years now, but developers Crystal Dynamics saved it from ruin this year with a gritty reboot for a rare franchise that actually needed a reboot. Reimagined in the style of the Uncharted games, Tomb Raider is now all about seamlessly cinematic action, headed by a Lara Croft who is more realistic and relatable as a person; gone is the oversized proportions and comically over-the-top posh accent. This Lara Croft is a vulnerable character we care about and want to protect. Completely overhauling everything we knew about Tomb Raider, CD didn't just reinvent the franchise, they just about perfected it, for everything from the controls, to the voice acting, to the graphics and the gameplay is easily the best of the series. So far-felt is its influence, in fact, that the upcoming Tomb Raider movie reboot is apparently going to draw its stylistic cues from this video game, and that's nothing but a good thing.
