9. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart

Another stellar platformer for the next spot as the mighty, absolutely-will-not-stop-slamming-home-runs Insomniac once again knock it out the park.

Following Spider-Man Miles Morales by only a few months, the team's bread and butter returns better than ever.

Besides being stunning to watch in motion - the patched-in "Performance Ray Tracing" mode being the one to pick - Rift Apart is easily the best-playing Ratchet to date. Taking 2016's perfected hybrid of platforming and third-person shooting, you now also have an arsenal full of cluster rockets, bombs, and a gun that just summons a random rendered item whenever you fire. With a super cool multi-step easter egg actually hinting at a shared platforming universe with Jak & Daxter, Sly Cooper and many other heroes, it's very much Insomniac playing to those of us who grew up with these heroes across the last couple decades.

Lastly, Rift Apart is the best showcase of SSD technology so far. Loading entire worlds in a second, taking you through multiple detailed biomes as single set-pieces - it's a fantastic tease of what developers will be capable of when they don't have to consider loading times whatsoever.
