4. The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom

After Breath of the Wild's unprecedented success, Nintendo got to work on DLC. But after the developers realised they had enough ideas for a whole new game, they decided to make a direct sequel. Due to insurmountable hype, it didn't seem likely for the next entry to invoke the same awe as its predecessor.

And yet, Tears of the Kingdom surpassed the previous Legend of Zelda in many ways. Now that Link can take to the sky and venture into subterranean lairs, the scale was twice that of BOTW.

Although the previous game was extremely open-ended, Tears boasted more freedom, since the new abilities allowed our Hylian hero multiple ways to complete shrines, solve puzzles, and defeat enemies. These powers made Link feel like a god since he could use them to control time, teleport upward in seconds, or create complex contraptions in an instant. Ultrahand is probably the most entertaining mechanic, since it allows Link to forge almost anything, including bridges, ladders, laser-shooting robots, and colossal death traps.

With a greater range of side-quests, more balanced Shrines, sensational bosses, a bigger challenge, and more to do overall, there's no question Tears of the Kingdom knocked it out of the park.
