10 Best Video Games Set In England
8. Vampyr
Developed by Dontnod Entertainment and released in June 2018, Vampyr is an action role-playing adventure set in the heart of London. The game follows Jonathan Reid, a doctor cursed with vampirism active during the height of the post-WW1 Spanish flu pandemic.
With Reid torn between his duties as a doctor and constant need to feast on the blood of London's innocents, the game requires players to wander the city and gather intelligence about certain targets before going in for the kill.
With almost any citizen ripe for feasting on, the role-playing elements in the game are some of the most well-pronounced of any title within the genre. Feasting on innocent people is vital to the player being able to level up and improve their skills, but it is also possible to complete the game without killing anyone at all, sticking to Reid's medical cover and saving plenty of lives.
The Peaky Blinders-esque setting is one of the most interesting time periods for an RPG title, and is the perfect location for a crazed vampire to be running around in. With multiple endings, complex interaction trees and some seriously smooth accents to enjoy, this is one of the most perfectly English games out there.
