Mac gamers are pretty well catered for if they want to get involved in the rapidly-expanding phenomenon that is the MOBA (Massively Online Battle Arena). Both Dota 2 and League of Legends are available to play on the Mac, but now there's a new boy on the MOBA block from the master-developers of moreish games, Blizzard. Heroes of the Storm will appeal to people who have tried Dota 2 but find it a bit inaccessible, as well as fans of the Starcraft, Warcraft or Diablo universes; HotS successfully mashes all of those universes together into a highly playable, deep and 5-v-5 battle-arena package. The game is still in its youth, but already it's showing incredible promise, delivering that highly tactical, teamwork-heavy gameplay of other MOBAs, while being kinder to new players to pick up and play. What's particularly exciting about HotS is that people are still working out how the game works, which character classes matc up well with each other, and what kind of tactics to deploy in the battles. With 39 different characters to choose from, there's plenty of depth already in this promising new MOBA, and that's only going to increase as more players start signing up, and as Blizzard does its thing nurtures it to become something quite special.
