10 Best World War 2 Video Games Of All time

1. Call Of Duty 2

Battlefield 1942
Activision

Although the original Call of Duty was a confident first step for Infinity Ward finding their feet in the genre, the sequel was an absolute smash hit, establishing the series as one of the biggest media properties in the world.

Even nine sequels and ten years later, you can see why it resonated with players so much. COD 2's gunplay still holds up today, and the set-pieces the series is known for are present in the game in full force. Putting subtle twists on classic WW2 staples, the title presents familiar scenes from entirely new perspectives, perfectly reflected in the D-Day mission that doesn't just repeat the same old Saving Private Ryan shtick.

Letting players jump around the different Allied forces, every new soldier you were put in the boots of brought something new to the campaign. The overpopulated but under-equipped Russian army was a particular highlight, facilitating some heart-pounding missions that captured the dire straits that people had to suffer through all in the name of war.
