Released: April-November 2012Month Offered: October 2015 Telltale Games really hit it out of the park with this one, and have since been on fire. Back in 2012 when this game dropped it was a unique gaming experience, it focused much less on action and fast paced gameplay, and took a focus on character development and atmospheric tension. The game's non-traditional take on gameplay stuck with fans and made it all the easier to get invested. This game is really what thrust Telltale into the public limelight, shocking many that the studio had been around since 2004 with numerous releases under their belt. The Walking Dead: Season One is up there as having one of the most enveloping stories in a video game, and took home a decent amount of Game of the Year awards in 2012 to show that. Fans were treated to the whole story here, and it wouldn't be a surprise if some powered through the whole thing or most of it in one sitting. It was a game that showed a great plot with great execution alone could drive success, showing us becoming entirely invested in every decision for main-man Lee, and what that meant for the younger Clementine. This release was one of the most emotional stories and best examples of character development we've ever seen through the Games With Gold program.
