There's something about games like Mad Max and State of Decay that just absolutely nails the combination of exploration, discovery and recovery. For State of Decay in particular, the re-release on Xbox One is by far the definitive one to play by a considerable margin. Graphics are improved in every respect, the frame rate and general feel of controlling your character is far more responsive and satisfying when it comes to anything combat-oriented, and best of all, the world itself is bigger than ever. Gameplay involves simply trying to survive. You'll do so by heading out and conquering new areas or locations, driving around and picking up survivors in peril, crafting new weapons and items, keeping your personal HQ fortified with supplies or weapons, and essentially living the life of the Governer from The Walking Dead (before he went a bit banana-sandwich). Don't let the original 2013 date put you off, the differences in expanded content and gameplay refinements here essentially make it a sequel, and one of the only zombie-themed titles on Xbox that'll hold your attention even when you aren't smashing them to pieces with a golf club.
