10 Big Reasons To Revisit Red Dead Redemption

1. That Ending

After shooting it out with a battalion of soldiers, John plops his family onto a horse and orders them to run. With nowhere left to go, John throws open the barn doors and steps into the beaming sun to face the firing squad outside. Time slows to a crawl as the game enters Dead Eye Mode, giving us enough time to draw our weapon - it's not looking good, but we've seen worse haven't we? As long as you've got enough bullets to go around, there's always a way out and this time is no different.

Except it is.

And the hopelessness of the situation sinks in as a fusillade of bullets tears through our hero, chewing through muscle and bone. After a final gasp for air, John falls to the ground.

It's safe to say there's not a gamer among us who wasn't shocked into silence after witnessing their protagonist's brutal end, and as John Marston's body crumbled under a hail of gunfire, so too did our preconceptions of video game narratives.

Everybody's crossing their fingers for Rockstar to unveil their next project at E3, and given the overwhelming demand for a Red Dead sequel, here's to hoping gamers finally get their wish.
