10 Biggest Concerns With Upcoming 2023 Video Games

8. Complexity - Armored Core VI: Fires Of Rubicon

It's been more than a decade since the release of the last Armored Core game, and it seems like this year FromSoftware is planning on giving this franchise a chance to make a comeback. However, despite the company's renown within the gaming industry, Armored Core VI will have to address quite a few concerns if it wants to appeal to more than just its die-hard fans.

The reason the series never reached mainstream appeal in the first place was due to its complexity. The games featured a myriad of mechanics connected to building and customizing your own mech, which required players to study dozens of in-game graphs and mathematical equations just to understand what stat was doing what. Compared to the similarly complex but more straightforward upgrade system of Dark Souls, Armored Core's customization felt rather sterile and obtuse, which is why so many players would get easily overwhelmed by it and drop the series early on.

As such, From Software needs to consider streamlining some elements of Armored Core's customization if it wants to lure in a wider audience, especially those who already adore their soulslike titles and are interested in giving Armored Core VI a shot.

So far, the interviews about the game haven't touched upon this issue, but addressing it will be important if the franchise is to become a mainstream success.
