10 Biggest Consumer Complaints The Gaming Industry Doesn't Want To Fix
9. Needlessly Forcing Trends Into Games
We get it, Battle Royale is a pretty fun concept. Does that mean it has to be shoved into every single game in 2018?
The problem with following trends in gaming is that they almost never last, and it makes them redundant pretty quickly. If you're not the best at what you're doing, you're going to get kicked aside pretty quickly. Just look at what happened to Radical Heights.
This is extremely unlikely to change because if a trend is popular enough it can actually sell the game based entirely on that. The presence of zombies in a game releasing last generation was actually often a selling point for the game itself, because of how popular the trend was.
But what happens when it goes too far? If a trend is taken to the logical extreme, it soon becomes obsolete and actively dampens expectations for a game. A game like Days Gone is getting unfairly judged already because it contains a zombie-esque enemy, and that's just proof of why it needs to be changed.
With Red Dead Redemption 2 rumoured to be getting a battle royale mode, who knows what will follow suit?
