10 Biggest Consumer Complaints The Gaming Industry Doesn't Want To Fix
8. Too Many Pointless HD Remasters
Remastering games from two generations ago? Sure, that makes sense. Games from last generation that sold well anyway? Maybe not...
Did we really need a HD remaster for Sleeping Dogs? How about Darksiders? As good as these games are, they really don't need to be brought to a new generation, especially with such minimal differences.
Publishers and developers do this because it's a much cheaper way of keeping fans of the series happy and making sure it stays relevant. They don't cost much to produce, can be released in the same year as developing and can often be handed to much smaller development teams. There's no downside for publishers to release these projects, which is why they're unlikely to go away.
Players are starting to get sick of it though. As much as Nintendo's Wii U games were great, we're seeing a lot more ports from them than is really needed, especially when they're being sold at full price.
Some games certainly deserve to be remastered, but there certainly needs to be less of them happening.
