10 Biggest Gaming Controversies Of 2017 (So Far)

7. Friday The 13th Developers Get Death Threats For Banning A Player

People get banned from online games all the time, so when a player was restricted from accessing the multiplayer of Friday the 13th earlier this year for sexually harassing two female players over the party chat, it wasn't enough to make the news.

However what came afterwards was. Instead of condemning the aggressive behaviour of the player after hearing the statement of what provoked the response, fans pointed out that the other players themselves should have also been banned because they collaborated to help Jason find and kill the other characters, something which is against the game's official rules.

In response to kicking the guy for harassing the two women (and a child) online, the title's developers received death threats and had their servers attacked over the decision, only adding more controversy onto this already divisive and volatile release.
