With gaming services nowadays, the services that are offered a relatively straightforward affair. Microsoft and Sony's forerunners, Game Pass and PS Now, respectively, both offer good services. Players are able access titles both old and new, across devices, at a decent price.

Whilst it's taken as a staple of gaming now, back in 2012 it was seen as a bold, new way to play that sounded too good to be true. What didn't help was Sony's grandiose boasts about how streaming could work across mediums, as well as for backwards compatibility for many of their titles.

It did come to fruition, eventually, after Sony sunk a huge amount of money into streaming service Gaikai and created PS Now, which offers a vast range of games to play. The problem is, Microsoft has done it better than Sony has, with completely different infrastructure to boot.

A much bigger catalogue of backwards compatible games to download rather than stream, as well as many new and exclusive games at launch, sees Game Pass miles ahead of PS Now.

PS Now has improved, greatly, over the years. But had it not been boastful, and let Microsoft pip it to the post, it could have been much better a lot sooner.
