3. Same Old, Same Old
When hopping onto an online match, there usually aren't too many surprises. While it can be a good thing to go dumb for a little while and mash buttons, the same old match over and over again can get really old really fast. There are only so many things to do despite developers attempts to bring something new to the table. The prestige system in (one more time now) Call of Duty is cool at first but what is the point of starting from scratch over and over again? Boredom is not an emotion that should be felt when using something for entertainment but quite frankly, that's the way plenty of games are coming off now. A couple of ways that online games can curb this trend may be the inclusion of an actual story in multiplayer. Requiring a certain rank or set of tasks to be completed before a bonus cut scene is unlocked will give more of a reason for multiplayer to actually be used. Not only would fans have more of a reason to play, consumers would also feel they are getting more bang for their buck.
